KOTA KINABALU:
Police are not ruling out the possibility that a six-year-old girl, who was found dead inside an oil drum at an oil palm farm in Semporna last Thursday, may have been murdered.
Semporna police chief Deputy Supt Mohd Firdaus Francis Abdullah said there was a possibility that the girl could have been killed before her body was put in the drum.
He said questions have been raised as to how the girl could have walked to the area where the drum was found as it was not a place where children normally played.

Furthermore, he said, the girl was too small to climb into the drum.

However, Firdaus said a post-mortem had yet to be done as they were waiting for a forensic expert from Kota Kinabalu to examine the body.

“The post-mortem will be able to determine her cause of death,” he said after accompanying Semporna MP Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal who visited the family of the victim, Nur Effa Sahira Ringkasan yesterday.

Nur Effa was reported missing on Dec 31 and her body was found four days later inside a drum.

Langit kelam berbalam sayu
menyimpul segunung awan derita
memuntahkan gugusan air mata hiba
membasahi duka di helaian suratan
tertulis lagi episod luka
anak kecil terbujur kaku
terperosok di lembah kekejaman.

Sekujur pilu di hening  Januari
menyentap rawan sejuta rasa
betapa kerdilnya setitis nilai
hilangnya sejujur kemanusiaan
punahnya setulus keimanan
tersungkur di kaki kealpaan!

Al-Fatihah buat Nur Effa Sahira
